Keynote Speaker - The
Reverend Richard Tanner

Richard Tanner has pursued a career rich in parish
involvement, academic enquiry, and teaching of students,
parishioners and laity across the country for 33 years. He has been
active within the Diocese of Toronto as preacher, teacher, student,
and pastoral minister. He loves to deconstruct the way we live out
our lives as Christians and reconstruct it in creative and effective
ways that make sense today
Over the years, Richard has often been invited to
preach and teach in a range of venues across Canada. For example, he
has spoken at 15 Billy Graham Schools of Evangelism and hosted a
late night television programme for 100 Huntley Street. Upon earning
his doctorate in ministry in 1994, he chose to hone and deepen
strengths and interests in the academic/teaching world. Since then
he has worked with an inspiring range of doctoral students from
around the globe, helping them to become more reflective
practitioners of ministry. He continues to do that work today, while
also serving as priest-in-charge of St. Michael the Archangel in
Scarborough.
Speaking at the 2010 FLAME conference is like
coming home for Richard. From 1983-88 and in 1994, he was the
keynote speaker at some of the best attended conferences in the long
history of FLAME.
